WHAT IN THE SAM HILL?
Festival of the Offensive (F-OFF) is dedicated to showcasing live performances that otherwise might not be produced because the establishment doesn't have the balls to produce them. Long live Lenny Bruce!
When: April 13-26, 2015
Where: The Producers' Club, Crown Theatre, 358 W 44th St., NYC
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?
F-OFF was founded by writer and comedian, Jacquetta Szathmari. A veteran producer and performer at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and a rabid fan of the NYC independent theatre scene, Szathmari was inspired by new productions she saw that were taking true risks on the stage.
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY OFFENSIVE?
That’s a great question. By offensive theatre we mean live performance which
- examines and satirizes the status quo
- brings willing audiences out of their comfort zone
- is sincere, not smug
- tackles new and uncomfortable subjects or presents alternative viewpoints on the usual suspects
- takes risks
- can hold its theatrical liquor
HOW DO I GET IN ON THIS?
Producers: Applications are closed for the 2014 festival. 2015 applications will be available August 1, 2014.
